Krystal’s Top Priorities
Public Safety
- Increase police presence and visibility, especially in our parks and community meetings
- Partner with police to deliver quarterly Coffee with our Cops community gatherings to promote neighborhood engagement and trust with our police officers
- Implement crime prevention programs and increase collaboration with neighboring cities to address regional safety concerns
- Enhance emergency preparedness and response efforts to protect residents and property
- Support a proactive approach to code and parking compliance efforts by working with our residents and businesses to keep our city beautiful by providing equitable, effective and fair compliance strategies
Economic Development
- Maintain and expand a diversified economy that promotes growth by supporting businesses while encouraging recreation and retirement in Tamarac
- Advocate for local job preference and higher wages
- Increase focus on capital and other funding/resources through the federal, state and county governments to support new businesses and commercial development as well as entrepreneurialism
- Host quarterly business meetings to promote economic development, awareness and provide for resources
- Implement training and skills development programs
Senior Initiatives
- Partner with local healthcare providers and community organizations to offer health education workshops, chronic disease management programs, and access to healthcare resources onsite
- Provide subsidies or grants for home modifications to improve accessibility for seniors aging in place, such as installing grab bars, ramps, and stairlifts, ensuring they can remain independent and safe in their homes
- Launch senior volunteer and mentorship programs that connect older adults with opportunities to give back to their communities through volunteer work, mentorship, and civic engagement.
- Partner with local schools, youth organizations, and nonprofits to create intergenerational programs that foster meaningful connections between seniors and younger generations, promoting mutual learning and understanding
- Recognize and celebrate the contributions of senior volunteers through awards, appreciation events, and opportunities for public recognition, highlighting their valuable role in strengthening community ties
- Expand access to home repair and modification assistance programs for low-income seniors, providing financial support for essential repairs and accessibility modifications that allow them to age in place safely and comfortably
- Advocate for policies that protect seniors from housing discrimination and eviction, ensuring housing stability and security for older adults in the community
